Domaine de la Corgette – Meursault, France

Here I am! Our baby boy is 5 weeks old and Mummy has finally taken a moment to peel her loving eyes off this wonder of Nature and recycle her hands for a few minutes. I considered sharing our hilarious first-time experiences in the areas of bathing, unfolding a stroller or changing diapers…

Instead, I’ve decided to let you in to the Domaine de la Corgette, a tasteful b&b nestled in the romantic Burgundy region between the world-renowned vines of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, and just 3,5 hrs drive from Paris (or 15mn from Beaune).

The warm welcome begins before you even step in to the guest house

Five charming and quiet double-rooms (of which one suite under the rooftop with a double bed and two twins, ideal for families) with wooden floors, tall ceilings, bathed in natural light, and modern bathrooms (we loved the spacious showers and heated towels).

A hearty home-made breakfast is served in the dining area by Véronique or JP, inviting you to start conversation with your neighbor at the table before rushing to register your impressions in the guest book.

A quaint den with books old and new to be borrowed, and much attention to decorative detail, as well as a massage room (reservations in advance), make for a stylish atmosphere without fuss.

And the view from the bedroom on the second floor

Bonus: in the nearby village of Meursault, stop by (calling first is advised) the Domaine Chavy-Chouet – a seventh generation wine producer where not a dull moment was observed. Hubert’s grandmother was in fact inducted in 1951 in the prestigious Chevalier du Tastevin, which at the time was a highly selective stamp of labor and savoir-faire. His son Romaric and their team today continue to be devoted to the family vines, and hand-pick their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in search of freshness and nutty-creaminess. We had a good laugh in the courtyard with humble Hubert (their wines are after all poured in some of the finest restaurants around the globe), and in presence of his security.

Here comes security…

Luckily, without an appointment we got the stamp of approval – opening the door to a domaine where hospitality, quality and generosity continue to reign.

Tried it. Loved it. Shared it.
